999 or 901?
Dubai Police reserves 999 for emergencies only, when you need immediate police assistance. Its call center, 901, handles non-urgent inquiries, general information and community support. Calling 901 with a routine question keeps 999 free for people who need it.
901 is not only Dubai
Sharjah Police lists 901 as its call center too, so the number is not unique to Dubai.
Other numbers Dubai Police lists
Next to 999 and 901, the Dubai Police contact page names 998 for an ambulance and 997 for Civil Defence. The UAE government portal adds the Al Ameen service on 800 4444 and the Control Center of Human Trafficking on 04 608 2347.
If you cannot speak on the phone
Dubai Police runs a Sign Language Service for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech difficulties. You find it on the contact page of dubaipolice.gov.ae. Written inquiries go to mail@dubaipolice.gov.ae.
Calls claiming to be the police
Scammers also pretend to be police officers. Treat a caller who threatens arrest unless you pay, or who asks for bank details, as a fraud attempt. Hang up and call 901 yourself to check.
