MobileNumber.ae chart: a phone showing three real UAE mobile number listings with asking prices and how many months of the October 2026 fuel increase each one covers
In short

The 30-second answer. Petrol rose for the third month running on 1 October 2026: Special 95 is AED 4.28 a litre and a 2,000 km-a-month commuter now pays AED 390 more every month than in February — about AED 4,700 a year. If you are looking for that money, there is an asset in your pocket most people never price. We counted every number privately listed on this marketplace today: 20,118 of them carry an asking price, the median is AED 325, and 22 ask AED 100,000 or more. One mid-range pattern covers nearly four years of the increase.

What October actually added to your month

On 1 October 2026 the UAE Fuel Price Committee raised petrol for the third month in a row. Super 98 went to AED 4.40 a litre, Special 95 to AED 4.28, E-Plus 91 to AED 4.21 and diesel to AED 4.80 — roughly 16% above September. In the same week Etihad Rail opened its Dubai station at Al Yalayis and began carrying passengers to Abu Dhabi from AED 39 in Comfort class.

Here is the figure that matters for a household. A driver covering 2,000 km a month in a car using 10 litres per 100 km burns 200 litres. At October's price that is AED 856 a month. In February 2026 the same driving cost AED 466. That is AED 390 more every month, or roughly AED 4,700 over a year — before tolls, parking, insurance or servicing.

Our partner site has the complete picture on that side of the ledger: every price since January, the full Etihad Rail station list, fares and timetables, parking and luggage rules, and an honest car-versus-train comparison. Read it here: UAE fuel prices October 2026 and Etihad Rail.

This page is about the other side. Not what you spend — what you already own and have never valued.

What UAE numbers are really asking

Most coverage of premium numbers quotes the record sales and stops there. That is not useful if you are holding an ordinary line and want to know whether it is worth anything. So we counted the whole marketplace instead.

On 2 October 2026 there were 20,118 numbers listed by private sellers with a price attached — dealer and house inventory excluded, because mixing them produces a number that describes nobody. This is how those asking prices are distributed.

AED 20,000 – 99,9991250.6%
AED 100,000 and above220.1%

The median private asking price is AED 325. That single figure is the honest headline: the typical UAE number is not a windfall. But the tail is long and real — 275 listings ask AED 5,000 or more, and 22 ask six figures. The question is not whether numbers are valuable in general. It is whether yours sits in the tail.

How rare is yours?

Repetition does most of the work in a number's price, and the drop-off is steeper than people expect. Across the same 20,118 private listings:

Five or more in a row210.1%

Read that carefully, because it is the most useful table on this page. Nearly half of all listed numbers have a triple somewhere — so a triple on its own is the entry ticket, not a jackpot. Four in a row puts you in the top 5%. Five in a row appears twenty-one times in the entire marketplace. And 786, the pattern people ask about most often, turns up in just 30 listings.

What actually drives the price

Four things, in roughly this order of weight.

Repetition. The table above. Three is common, four is scarce, five changes the bracket entirely.

Position. The same triple is worth meaningfully more at the end of a number than buried in the middle, because the ending is the part people see on a card, repeat on a call and remember afterwards.

Shape. Mirrors, repeating beats and clean sequences all do the same job: they make a number sayable. The whole point of a valuable number is that someone recalls it after hearing it once.

Shared meaning. Cultural digits carry a premium, but only where a crowd agrees on the meaning. In this market 786 is the clearest case, as is a heavy presence of 7s. A digit that is lucky to one community and neutral to everyone else moves the price very little.

What does not drive the price: being new, being on a particular network, or simply being yours. The prefix tells you which carrier the block was originally allocated to — not who runs the line today, because number portability moves the number while the prefix stays put.

Five real listings, measured in months of fuel

Abstract tiers are less useful than real listings. These five are active today, all from private sellers, set against the AED 390 a month that October added.

NumberAsking priceCovers the increase for
050 2999320AED 1,0002 and a half months
054 4014443AED 5,000just over a year
052 2212220AED 18,000nearly four years
050 7777777AED 250,000more than fifty years
055 3960322AED 1,000,000longer than you will own a car

The spread is the point. The AED 1,000 number has a pleasant rhythm and nothing more — and it still covers two and a half months of the rise. The AED 18,000 number has a strong repeating structure and covers nearly four years. The two at the top are patterns that simply do not come up often.

One caveat that a lot of coverage skips: these are asking prices, not confirmed sales. What a number finally goes for is settled between buyer and seller. A seller who knows where their number sits in the tables above simply negotiates from a much better position.

If you would rather not eyeball it, put your number into the free value calculator. It reads the pattern and returns a range based on what comparable numbers are currently listed at. No signup required.

When it is not worth selling

Three cases where the honest answer is to keep it.

Your number has no pattern. If there is no run of identical digits, no mirror, no clean ending and no culturally loaded sequence, it sits in the 93.5% that ask under AED 1,000 — and most of those are asking, not selling. The admin is unlikely to be worth it.

It is your primary line. Bank OTPs, government services, delivery accounts and years of contacts all hang off it. Transferring is simple; rebuilding your digital life around a new number is not.

You need the money this week. A number sells when the right buyer appears, and that is not a date you control. If the AED 390 is urgent, this is not the lever to pull.

How a number actually changes hands

Ownership of a UAE number is transferred by the carrier — Etisalat (e&), du or Virgin Mobile — with both parties present and their original Emirates IDs. There is a small carrier fee; the counter confirms the current amount for your plan type. Any outstanding postpaid balance has to be settled first, and the buyer must be 18 or older.

Your line keeps working throughout. WhatsApp stays active, bank codes keep arriving, and nothing needs re-registering on your side until the moment it is re-registered at the desk. The single rule worth more than all the others: never send money before the line is in the buyer's name.

The full process is set out in our ownership transfer guide, and the practical steps for sellers are in how to sell your UAE mobile number. When you are ready, you can list your number and let buyers come to you.

Selling the car or the plate instead?

A mobile number is not the only number that turns into cash. If the October prices and the new train have you wondering whether you still need the car — or the plate on it — our partner site has published the full guide, and listing a car or a plate there is free: should you sell your car or plate?

Frequently asked questions

Does a fuel price rise actually change what a mobile number is worth?

No. A number's value comes from its digit pattern and from demand for that pattern, and neither moves with petrol. What changes in a month like this is attention — more people start looking at what they own and could sell.

How many months of the increase would a mid-range number cover?

Against the AED 390 a month October added, an AED 5,000 number covers just over a year and an AED 18,000 number covers nearly four years. Even an entry-level pattern at AED 1,000 covers two and a half months.

What is the typical asking price for a UAE mobile number?

The median private asking price on this marketplace is AED 325, counted across 20,118 listings on 2 October 2026. Some 93.5% ask under AED 1,000, while 275 listings ask AED 5,000 or more and 22 ask six figures.

How rare is a number with four identical digits in a row?

Of 20,118 privately listed numbers, 1,094 contain at least four identical digits in a row — about 5.4%. Five or more in a row occurs 21 times across the entire marketplace.

Is October a good month to list a UAE mobile number?

There is no seasonal pricing for numbers the way there is for cars. What a month like this gives you is more buyers browsing, because the same cost pressure that made you read this page made them open their wallets for a number they have wanted for a while.

Can I sell my number and keep using it until the buyer collects it?

Your line keeps working right up to the moment it is re-registered at the carrier counter — WhatsApp, bank codes and everything else stay live. Nothing changes on your side until both of you are standing at the desk.

Does the prefix change what my number is worth?

Far less than the pattern does. A prefix tells you which carrier the block was originally allocated to, not who runs the line today, because portability moves the number and leaves the prefix in place. A weak pattern on a sought-after prefix is still a weak pattern.

Are these asking prices or actual sale prices?

Asking prices, taken from live listings. We do not publish sale figures, because the number of completed transfers we can verify is far too small to describe a market. Treat every figure here as what sellers want, not what buyers paid.
